Birddog Landing Gear legs

Wed May 11, 2016 10:21 am

Looking to be educated on O-1/L-19 landing gear legs.

1. Types, "thick", "thin", etc. What are the part numbers and are they stamped on the units?

2. Specs: if a shop were to restore them to spec, where are the angles, measures, and heat treat specs located?

3. Any other info or insight would be appreciated.

Ken

IIRC, Air Repair has ads in Trade-A-Plane...they rebuild them.

Ken,

The O-1A has "Light wings" and light gear. The O-1E has the heavy wings (more rivets inboard leading edge spar 1 " spacing) and thicker more robust main gear and tail wheel spring. The parts manuals for the two aircraft will show the different part numbers.

The TL-19A as the light gear, the TL-19D has the heavier gear.

I second what John posted about contacting Air Repair.

Already did, thanks, waiting on a reply and trying to improve my knowledge base in the mean time. O-1D, by the way.
