Apologies if this was already posted elsewhere... The Fort Worth Aviation Museum had an effort going to save this cold war vet, but it looks like the Fort Worth City council put an end to that by voting to not accept the loan of this plane from the Air Force museum. So the chances are very high that this warbird will be scrapped....DFW has a rich aviation history...it's a shame they are letting this piece go...

What would it take for someone like the Frontiers of Flight in Dallas or Cavanaugh Flight museum to save her?...or even the new CAF outfit at Dallas Executive? Just thinking out loud...

Gotta love the City of Fort Worth....they like to crow about their aviation history...going back to before WWI...and do nothing to preserve or celebrate it.

Many groups over the years have tried and failed to get the city on board with the idea of a museum...

The B-36 was to be the center piece of one great idea....then...POOF!

This latest mess sits squarely on the shoulders of the city's squad of lawyers and their fear of nothing....grrrr...

I can't believe the NMUSAF would allow it to be scrapped.
I'd think there are USAF bases that have a Hustler on their static "wish list".

Dress is close and has a fine collection of bombers (B-17, 26, 47, 52, 57 and B-1) also Ellsworth might be interested..they were in line to get a B-47 before Dayton stripped it for parts and scrapped it.

Yes, but NO money to move her or maintain her.
Fact is the USAF is dramatically downsizing their museum collection of aircraft. Its happening at many places.

Convince the Addison city council to spend taxpayer dollars to purchase, display, maintain it.

As I have stated before Castle would be perfect. Yes an expensive move, but they have a great bomber collection and better weather than some other places. No B-58 history as Castle however.

I recently had to go to a township meeting and I brought up the topic of storing airplanes and was flatly told "Inappropriate"! :roll:

Local good ol boys club that have 3 members the oldest 89 with cancer, and a Mexican that splirs his speech, and a goody-two-shoe lawyer and no option to negotiate.

We wanted it too, and were in the running. I heard word some time ago that "we lost" and it was going to Ft. Worth but wasn't going to say anything. The main reason being an approximately $200K bill to move it. I'll ask around and see if there is any update. Castle would be perfect. We have dang near every bomber made from pre-WWII to present. The notable exceptions are a B-58 and a B-26. Other than that, I think we have 'em all. It would make an excellent addition to our Cold War collection.
