BuNo 68479 was a TBM-3 assigned to VMTB-233. On 3 Apr 45, TBM-3 BuNo 68893 bounced over the barriers & crashed into 68479 before going overboard. The crew of 68893 were rescued. T/Sgt John Donald Sykes, Jr. (Serial # 322855) was on the wing of 68479 & was knocked overboard. He was not recovered.
