Anybody have a clue about overhaul costs (or even who might do such a thing) for a Renault engine as used in the ME-108? Platinum Fighters is advertising one that sat for twenty years so I'm guessing the engine needs to be gone through.
At this point just curious.

A tad confusing: Bf-108 maybe? But that type used Argus, Siemens and Hirth motors.
I wonder if you mean Nord 1001 Pingouin I (Renault 6Q 11) or Nord 1002 Pingouin II (Renault 6Q 10)?

May be worth contacting Vintech in England, they would give you some idea. Sorry haven't got their contact details on hand.

To clarify; the Messerschmitt BF-108 had the Argus As 10C of about 240 hp. They were built in occupied France. Post war the French built the NORD 1000, 1001,1002 which were the same thing except the engine and prop were changed. The Bf-108 had a wind driven constant speed prop and the French NORD had a Ratier hollow steel prop, electric, and the Renault 60-11 of 249 hp. In the mid 1980's we had a Nord 1002. We sold it because at that time there were no spare airworthy props. My dad's mechanic did a top overhaul and made gaskets from scratch. Now there are engine builders. Good luck finding an airworthy prop. I have seen a couple Bf-108's with a fixed pitch prop (like on the Fieseler Storch.)
FWIW, A friend just had the engine rebuilt on his 260hp. L-17 Navion. New cylinders, everything. He told me it's going to cost $34,000 because of cost of parts.

That's actually a darn good price if he's getting new cylinders.
Ironically the Renault may be cheaper/easier to overhaul, due to the lack of current support. New Surplus parts may be out there, and various officialdom is happier to make allowances for 'owner manufactured' parts when there simply is no alternative
