I don't think anyone demanded an explanation. But rather expressing of disappointment and a realistic view of possible west coast P-51 participation so get over yourself. I know of 3 P-51s that were planning on going to Reno but won't make it out of their hangers now. I hope it's an exciting and sucessful event and I'm disappointed to miss out. But, I certainly don't need or expect a explanation from anyone.

Well put Mr. Cook, I only speak from the disappointment that I doubt our local Mustang would now attend. I worked on the owner for what seemed like years to encourage a Reno trip.

I wasn't able to get to the April '99 gathering and going to Reno in the month of June would be out of the question for me as the heat would be intolerable for me. But Columbus, OH, in late September sounds doable, even drivable if needs be. I'm glad it'll be in the East.

I was merely asking a question. I have not directed this question at S51, but to the members of this forum. I am not criticising S51 - in fact I will be travelling 5,000 miles at my expense to work at this event for free. I KNOW they have done a great deal of work in preparation for this event and will have deliberated at length before making a final decision on the venue. However, I am not overly familiar with USA geography and was simply curious about the reasons that were behind this final choice. I am sorry you chose to be so rude.

BTW: If they change it to Alaska I will still be there!

Stallion didn't go and plan this thing blindly...I'm sure owners and operators from all over were consulted in the planning process. They'd be stupid to organize such an event without consulting the people who will really make it happen (the Mustang owners/operators). Otherwise you'd have one of those "what if you held an airshow and nobody showed up" situations.

Good point!

Glad to hear it's going to be at Rick. I'm about an hour from there. And maybe if they run out of parking spaces, they can send a few birds to our field, five minutes from the base

Okay, Okay, enough about the location, no matter where was chosen it would have made some happy and others less so. Lets all take a deep breath, count to ten and rejoice in the fact that this event is going to happen.

Now that you have all done so lets start a list as to what Mustangs will be coming. If you have inside information, best guesses or whatever lets put together a list and see how accurate we can be. Of course mechanical problems may mess us up but lets see what we can do.

Only 524 more days to go.

i can say for sure that the Evergreen Intl and Elkins (Never Miss) now will not be going.. If it could have been kept to a single hop I would have brought one or the other.. My bet is that the Olympic Flight Museum mustang is prob out as well but Brad may know more.

Rob - you should know that in May 1958 the proof was made that A-26's won't last long when dealing with P-51's.......

(Pope incident in Indonesia....)

So don't even try :snakeman:

On another message someone said they spoke to one of the organizers at Columbus and they said that they are planning on having both the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels in attendance.
