Who's Spitfire crashed in the UK in April 2000?

Think you are referring to PV202 which crashed while landing at Goodwood in April 2000. Very sadly Norman Lees and Greg McCurrach died in the accident. The airframe fared better and is now flying again.

That would almost certainly have been Tr.IX PV202, which crashed during pilot training at Goodwood on 8th April 2000. Sadly the former owner Norman Lees was killed, along with the new owner, a South African whose name I don't recall. Apparently the new owner was pilot-in-command at the time, and I seem to remember that he struck a tree during some phase of practicing take-offs and landings. The spitfire has since been rebuilt and re-serialled to the identity and markings she wore while serving with the Irish Army Air Corps. She flew again last year IIRC.

Norman Lees did not own PV202, although he flew it regularly. The new owners name is mentioned in an earlier post
