You know, this is very sad. BUT. I was fortunate enough to have known Ed for many years and considered him a friend. And I can say this without an ounce of embarrassment...my world was a better place for having known him and I was the one honored that he considered me his friend.

I will miss him. But when it comes time to celebrate his life that's truly what it will be...a celebration.

He will be missed, but I hope the family keeps the museum going. I know that sounds selfish, but I have taken my whole family(extended too) there and almost non of them are aviation enthusiast, but the museum always made an impression on whom ever I took. They at least could see where I got bitten by the warbird bug. I have gone off and on since I was a kid. My only real interaction with Ed was when he tried to talk my father into paying for a ride in a Corsair in the late 70s-for $100.00 and my dad turned him down. UHHHH!!! I have gone to symposiums over the years and never thought it was a wasted day. Thanks Ed and family for sharing your passion in such a unselfish and generous way. I am sure sacrifices were made along the way and please know that they were not in vein. I consider the Planes of Fame almost hallowed ground and now even more.

I never got to meet Ed - I've never even seen one of his aircraft fly - but have always been grateful for what he did. Blue skies and rest in peace.

Bubba was a tall, slim, handsome guy following fashions of clothes and coiffure back then. He's also about 15 years younger than Mr. Maloney.
