Told Mrs. Mudge this story. She got it far faster than I did. (She's not a "geezer" yet.) We got to see Fifi when she was at the Martinsburg, WV airport. Got some pretty good pics when she was arriving and did a photo pass around the field.

Mudge the geezer

It took awhile for my penny to drop too!

A couple of years ago I was giving the Stearman a bath outside in front of the hangar when an old guy walked up. "A Tiger Moth! I trained in these during the war." I thought to myself "Ok - it's a biplane, it's yellow, and he probably hasn't seen one in sixty years..." I couldn't rationalize him flying Corsairs during the battle of Britain though.

Kinda reminded me of a pilot I met years ago that claimed to have flown F4's in Vietnam. I smelled bull right away so I said to him "Wow, that must have taken guts. Being shot at by everything from SAMs to slingshots and tooling around over the jungle on JUST ONE ENGINE." In his best Ace McCool manner while downing a free coffee he said "Ya, well, you got used to it."

Busted. 8)
