I was wondering what is the current state of US Naval aircraft salvage rights ?
Was there ever a release of Salvage rights on abandoned aircraft ?

if its in us territory you have no hope, if not then get someone to register and "sell" to you, import it and they cant do anything

Actually, you have a chance ( albeit a slim one ) to get permission. The navy has "relaxed" some lately but preference is given to museums, educational institutions.

The Navy is willing to allow you to salvage. But You Must have written plan...
For recovery of air frame
Long term conservation
Long term display and care
and they will still claim ownership
basically, you do all the work and are allowed to display it, but they still own it.
