Not sure if it's relative by I'm curious.............
How fast was Tex Johnson's modified P-39Q?
The Westland Wirlwind and the Hornet or Sea Hornet??
BTW no P-51Hs left the states during WWII!

Best I could find 'down low' for the Hawker Typhoon was at 5,000 ft.....but at that altitude it did do 374 mph....

Depending on which book you read the Hornet was 472 or 485 mph, but without going to look it up I don't know at what altitude.

I'm confident it didn't see action but I've also got a feeling it didn't serve in squadron strength before the end of the war.

Forgot to post the spped of the Westland Whirlwind.....only shows it for 15,000 ft altitude, but at that altitude it could do 360 mph...

The Hornet prototype did 485 mph but the production ones were heavier, as always, and did 472 mph.

Still no idea of altitudes but it's irrelevant anyway as despite the first production machine flying in March 1945 they didn't enter squadron service until May 1946.
