Here in fabulous Peachtree City, GA it is over 4.00 a gallon. Now, you factor in feeding a thirsty Mustang, SBD, C-45, Kate, Zero, and a SNJ and you can image our fuel bill.

The local FBO drools when we have to move our fleet.

Consider yourselves lucky you don't live this side of the pond.

There's an on-going thread in the Flypast general aviation forum about the price of fuel.

Last updated 6th March, after some playing with a calculator converting litres to US gallons and the exchange rate, how about $8.26!!!!!!!!!

The US Air Force is going to start testing a BioJet JP fuel at Wright Patt. It's supposed to be about .40 per gallon cheaper if they approve it.

As most of the oil from the Middle East is going to be diverted to China the prices will rise sharply.

How's the performance?

Found on Google:

Quote:
These tests showed that JP900 has a flash point higher than required for JP8, a lower viscosity and freezing point and a higher smoke point. The coal-based fuel is lower in aromatics – such compounds as benzene and toluene – than conventional jet fuels and is almost sulfur free. From an energy point of view, JP900 produces almost exactly the same Btu as JP8.

Not only does JP900 meet most of the specification for JP8, but it also has the high flash point required of JP5, naval jet fuel and the thermal stability of JP7, a high performance fuel.
