Yep! The FM-2 is listed for sale with Mark Clark............. Here goes Alan counting change, digging through the sofa cushions for a spare couple hundred thou....... but realizing that it is not going to happen today......
I remember taking quite a few pics of this bird when she flew into Breckinridge for Howard's Memorial Day Weekend show...... If she sells, hope she will take to the air just a little more often... Alan

The big news is that their A-20 is for sale....along with the F8F

Well you are correct!...
It will be sad seeing three of them go. Especially since Im pretty close to two of the three! But they do belong back in the air!

The aircraft all belong to the founder of Lone Star but not Lone Star proper. P-38 was the same way. Looks like he's cashing out.

lets hope they find a good home and take to the air. I'd love to see the A-20G in the air.

Come on TX lottery, would by the FM-2, F8F, and A-20 for sure! What the heck is going on down there? Will this be the lAST airshow down in Galveston?? You would think with Schlitterbahn opening they would expect more ppl!

I heard a rumble that there were extreme insurance costs to operate
certain birds and the inventory was being reduced to get it down.

WOW - I am not sure if I should feel bad for the museum or wonder what really cool project is in the works??
I love the wildcat with VF-31 "felix" on the right side. And of course the "Blues" bearcat would be a diamond in any collection.
I wonder if the A-20 will sell - and if so I agree in that I hope the buyer puts some air under the planes wings!!
Drivingthrough Idaho I see that the lotto is getting up there again - PLEASE OH PLEASE LET ME WIN!! Ha - guess I ought to buy some tickets first right?

How old is Waltrip? Could it be he is cashing in his retirement?

I expect Mr. Waltrip's retirement is already pretty set. The Houston newspaper reported a few years ago that when SCI was flying high that his annual paycheck was on the order of $10,000,000 annually. His wife and mother was also on the Board of Directors back then. They had pretty hefty salaries too if I remember right. Got to hand it to him though, they started out with one small local funeral home and built it into a worldwide empire.
People are just dying to do business with them !
He's in his 70s now.
I hate to see the aircraft start leaving down there, I guess we've been spoiled. But I am glad that he decided to park his money in warbirds. His vision put together a really great collection.
