Just poking fun at the weenie roasters.... I can't help it- I am stuck with my odd sense of humor. I haven't found a medication to fix it yet.

I don't use petrol any more i use only LPG,i think you call it Propane over there.

This Monday morning it was raised to $3.75. I should’ve kept my mouth shut.

Here’s a couple of pictures I took last fall of a guy raising the price at a gas station. You can’t see them, but he is also wearing safety goggles. I wonder if all the safety gear is to protect him from angry motorists.

uh oh - Mike brought out the "peak oil" stuff. But sadly I think there is a lot of truth to it Mike.

I saw a guy talking about how wonderful the $100 a barrel level would be because it would force people into a new mode of thinking and behavior i.e. getting rid of the under 15 mpg vehicles as daily drivers.

I do not look forward to it as I love to see these old planes actually flying!

Tom, don't want to rain on the parade but if opil goes to $100.00 a barrel it's going have a big effect on flying the new planes too !

On the bright side though, as far as vehicles go maybe it will push the alternative energy sources. The higher the regular stuff goes, the more the alternatives become commercially feasible. Until now they couldn't compete in the market.

Every vehicle built in Brazil is flexfuel, they only use gas to start their vehicles on cold mornings then once they warm up they automaically switch to primary which is methanol made primarily from sugar cane. They've cut their dependency on foreign oil to only about 18% of their total energy usage.

I love the methanol/ethanol idea in principal as I spent 15 years in Indy racing and that is all we used. In this new marketplace, though, no one seems to have the balls to step up and tell the truth about this alternative fuel. Alcohol has 1/2 the BTU's of gasoline, ergo, twice the volume of fuel to make the same power. Cool, if it is half the price of gas, even trade. If it is only a few cents cheaper, well you can figure that out. Hydrocarbon emissions much better but now substitute formaldehyde. Guess it would take a while to build up that to a dangerous level but it's there.

We are probably headed that way for alternatives until someone can figure the H2 fuel cell technology out. For over 30 years they have had welding torches that ran on H2 and 02 generated from the electrolysis of...you guessed it, H2-O. Wouldn't that be sweet? Try to get that past the oil magnates. Pretty cool to fill up using your garden hose, eh? Oh, yeah, that also adds new O2 to the atmosphere and we could use a bit richer mixture anyway, might clear some heads in government.

That being said, looks like flyers are still screwed but maybe if everyone switched to an alternative fuel, gas would be in great supply, demand low, and AVGAS would be $0.29 a gallon? :P

Once again we are one of the highest in the area!
