Normally I wouldn't post this here but...

Some of you know that besides warbirds, Science fiction is among my other interests. On occasion my worlds collide and I run across something... weird. Well this morning I ran across a CGI short named Oceanmaker. It's cute though the premise is so full of holes the script must have been printed on lace. It is a post apocalyptic story with prop aircraft as a key component. The main aircraft is this one which you might recognize.

This is just so... messed up. But how much love does the Mohawk get so I figure all things being equal this is a good thing.

There is also a Corsair but it gets little screen time. The remaining aircraft seem to be weird composites that for the most part I don't think are even close to real (but if I'm wrong tell me, please)

It's not a long movie, and the premise is weaker than week. But the visuals are cool and worth a few minutes to take a peek at it.

Let me know what you think.

Not sure if this pic is of the Mark I or a later version, as I recall they had a ball turret and an optional JATO pack to assist take off in the hotter climate of the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations. Can anyone else assist please?

Scott, I loved it. Obviously that's not how any of this works and that Mowhawk has Avco/Lycoming T-53 Gas Turbines, not bi plane engines from the sound but dam its called suspension of disbelief :) Got to imagine that Cat wing wouald creat some serious lift, like a glider?

Thanks for sharing!

Not to mention her firing rate on her Vulcan sounds very slow...where's that roar? The Catahawk or Mohawkalina looks like the post-apocalypse Auzzies have brought us Airtruk MK II. The dual fuels would make me nervous about the accuracy of genetic mutant lineboys.
Cool video tho, thanks Scott!

I assume this is CGed, right? They did not actually build the thing?

Did the movie go straight to video?

It is indeed CG. It is a short film and alot of these types of projects tend to be graduation films for CG students, especially when there is no dialogue. It's essentially a display of the students skill set.

I liked it, definitely had a Waterworld/Mad Max vibe and it had an ending that made me think "what next?" Also as a Film school graduate I can appreciate the amount of work that went into creating that.

Can't decide if this should be in a new thread, but I clicked on one of the suggested videos after watching Oceanmaker. This one is much more like an animated comic book-type so don't expect too much in the way of realism. The intensity and use of small details is excellent!! I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of the ending...

Genetic Mutant Lineboys...sounds like a punk band you might run across while out for your $100 hamburger at an FBO snackbar...or maybe the writers room in a Tim Burton movie.
