New CAF WASP unit formed

Fri Nov 04, 2016 10:51 am

The CAF has formed a WASP unit to honor the WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) of WWII. More info is available here http://www.commemorativeairforce.org/. A number of members were recruited at Wings Over Dallas last weekend, including myself. Yes, men can join the unit. An AT-6 that served as a WASP trainer at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, TX has also been located and there is a Kickstarter campaign to help raise money to acquire and restore the aircraft to WASP colors here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/caf/trailblazing-women-pilots-honoring-the-wasp. This last link includes a video and a lot more details. I had not seen any mention of it here so thought I'd let you know.
