"Dunkirk" movie trailer

Wed Dec 14, 2016 11:11 am

I searched and couldn't find this posted yet.

Looks pretty good. Great cast. The Tommies and the beach might look a little too clean, though.

Looks pretty good. We'll have to wait and see. I still think this scene was amazing.

So last summer the big discussion was that the company had dropped $5 million on an "authentic WWII" aircraft--reports wavered between British or German--that they were going to attach IMAX cameras to and deliberately crash.

I didn't particularly pay much attention to that rumor, but now that the trailer is out I searched a bit and couldn't find anything more recent than June on the subject.

Anyone know?

Yeah, I can't imagine any film beating this for a Dunkirk scene...

The initial teaser trailer - soldiers on the pier looking up, then falling down, in waves as a Stuka dives down gave me chills. This new trailer looks fantastic.

I'm guessing some CG work is still left to do as none of the Spitfires appeared to have individual code letters yet.

They arent using CG, so if they dont have codes then they won't have codes. From what I understand, the director hates CGI and used real aircraft or large scale models.

I had never heard of "Atonement."

I'll have to dig it up. Thanks

A great movie. Not a "war" movie in the John Wayne sense, but truly a great story well told. And as you've seen, some amazing camera work.

Understood that he may not like CGI for recreating the aircraft but I doubt there would be objection to using it to add the individual code letters to the filmed aircraft. I could be wrong though.

I read that they are spurious codes anyway, keeping in tune with the true story but not every "character" is a real person.

The R/C Stukas glimpsed in the trailer look great. One aspect I'm very much looking forward to seeing on the big screen.

It's good to know that there is still a use for big model work in films!
