This pic was at the above site. For you smart folks...what is that mounted below the vert rudder on this USCG PB-1G? My first guess was some type of DF loop?? Or is that a left-over framework for the old tail gunner position?? If so, the glass looks to be missing.

My guess is leftover framework.

What movie clip is the screen capture of the YB's from? Would be very interested to see the rest of that footage.

There are several different segments broken up from a newsreel; my computer is acting up again (won't play the videos) but do a search under Getty Images videos for "B-17" and you should be able to find all the pieces.

There's also footage of a weapons test at Aberdeen...
