Unknown Civilian Mustang

Tue Feb 07, 2017 10:15 pm

This was posted to the P-51 Mustang page, the poster gave me permission to share it here. We're hoping someone here knows more about the history of this particular Mustang.

All that is known is that it was taken in the Fall of '73, most likely in Canada.

I'd like to add that I think it's probably the coolest civilian paint scheme I've ever seen!

Love the paint scheme...neat in a retro '60s way.
If I had a Mustang (yeah...right)...I consider a scheme like that just to be different.

that's pretty much the colors on my SNJ when I bought, but I went with a SBD scheme when I painted it.

I believe this is N6341T... I recall when Bob Byrne bought what became "Rascal" - this was the scheme it was wearing... Now flies as "Old Crow"...

I did some digging with that N number, looks like you're correct. There are several mentions of N6341T wearing this scheme when Al Lofgren owned it before Bob Byrne. Thanks!!

Does/did Canada have a "Limited" category like the US does?

I was wondering that too when I saw it below the canopy.

The photo may have been taken in Canada but, apparently, the aircraft was owned by Al Lofgren of Michigan and on the US registry as N6341T.

Got any pictures of her in the red/white/gold scheme Stoney? I've got a T-6 model project in the works and might consider the scheme for it. If it looks as good on the T-6 as it does the Mustang then I would definitely consider it!
