Warbird on radio

Mon Apr 24, 2006 7:34 pm

On arrival into Cinci today, coming over Indianapolis I heard Mig N17YB check on at 1600 and climbing. He was cleared up to FL 230 pretty quick, and while I should have timed it, I did not. However, he was cleared direct to Kenosha. Was there an airshow in Indy this weekend? Also any idea who was driving?

Dave, No airshow in Indy this past weekend. It was Thunder Over Louisville. I was there all day, but didn't see a MIG.

Thanks for that info. As I said, I was over Indy, and the Center Frequency I was on does not generally cover Louisville, but one never really knows. I do have the info on the bird. One interesting thought is that Kenosha is not the city listed in the FAA registry. Waiting for more info.

That may be where he lives, but flies the jet out of Kenosha. I know a pilot who has the plane registered in another city, but flies with plane out of an airport in another.
