Just saw that the Vintage Wings of Canada Sabre is listed on Courtesy's site:

Man that is a pretty Sabre but I can't help but feel that it belongs in Canada as opposed to anywhere else.

That's me BTW. I was put in charge of the sales effort.

I contacted every operator in Canada I thought might support it.

No takers.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it eventually finds a good home and becomes a flyer at air shows again. Would be nice to see it stay in the Golden Hawks paint scheme too.

I'm not even Canadian or live there, but I also hope it stays in Canada in the current paint scheme. IMO, that's just where that jet belongs!

BTW, FHC already has an F-86. They are doing a flyable restoration on an early F-86A model which is supposed to be about done now. I'm not positive, but I heard it might be the oldest F-86 in existence.

So, unfortunately, I doubt FHC would go for two flyable F-86's in their collection.

Certainly not the oldest, but one of few with genuine Korean War history.

I also hope it stays in Canada. That Sabre belongs there. Was it too expensive to operate?

A Sabre is obviously not a cheap aircraft to operate. That's why the purchase price is lower than a WWII fighter. But a large part of the reason is that the hangar is full. VERY full.

We have 3 restorations going on now (Spit IX, Hurri XII and Fury biplane) and they each take more footprint that simply storing a machine.

Plus, recently Mike Potter bought this...

And it has become very clear that extracting an airplane near the back has become a major operation.
