This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Yes. It is great that Pima gets one of our national collection.
JohnB wrote:Some of the guys at the Key Publishing forum griped about letting one of the Spitfires leave their island. It's apparently not enough to have 150+ in a country the size of Idaho. Which means the average Brit has to travel about as far to see a Sitfire as the average American has to travel to a CVS/Walgreens.
When I mentioned that, I was told by several people that there were enough
private Spitfires in America, oblivious to the fact most private aircraft aren't on public view...or the pertinent fact that the aircraft in question was on storage and currently not being seen by anyone.
Rant over...gee, that felt good.
Glad to see it at Pima, a great addition to their growing WWII fleet and huge UK collection.
I. as a Britt, enjoyed your rant. "We" the Britts have enough Spitfires. We can spare a few. Its a pity that Pima didn't get a Vulcan, Victor and VC10.

We've finished the reassembly of the Spitfire. It is now on display in Hangar 5.

F-11A Tiger

And another new arrival I forgot before, an OH-58D

Even if they never get a new aircraft for a major restoration, the crew has a lifetime of work with the periodic reconditioning current exhibits.
I was there (in the late 90s or early 2000s?) When the B-58 was recently polished and it needs it again. Likewise the C-124.
They do a great job, but they're fighting a long battle with the sun.

It is a loan from Pensacola. We've had it since at least the 1980s.

Even with faded paint that is still surely one of the most beautiful things that man has created.
And yes - more (much more!) please....
