However, a few months ago, Weeks posted that he was changing the direction of the restoration a bit, by having the aircraft re-fitted with a B-model gun nose, instead of the C-model glass nose (which had already been fully restored).

Wonder if they'll use the nose he has from 44-35590/N3248G for it, or is that a different type?

That airframe right there cemented my love for the Invader as a type when I was in high school! Can't see enough of it! Made Douglas Aircraft a logical choice for my career out of college (and still there some 30 years later!), especially since Republic and Hispano weren't as likely. I did work for GD/Convair for a while, but on rockets, not aircraft.

With regard to Flying Heritage Collection projects, I wouldn't expect to see the Ju-87 anytime soon, but I do keep wondering if we just might see their P-38 completed/flying in the not too distant future, since it seems to have been underway at Westpac for about as long as "White 33" was.

I've seen some recent pics of the P-38 (within the last couple of months) and I would not expect to see it flying in 2017. Happy to be proven wrong of course!

I believe there's scope for a few P-38's to come out of Westpac. Were the pictures online? Would love to see the state of it.

Tri-State should have Beck's A model back up and running soon

If I recall correctly, Tri-State Aviation had hoped to have the P-51A completed/flying in-time for Reno 2016, but they had some other projects take over this year, like the TFL Zero and Beck Corsair (for Paul Ehlen/Wings of the North).

This photo is from way back in 2013 (from the TSA Facebook page), at which point the aircraft already appeared very near completion - fuselage/wings mated, engine mounts/engine fitted, and work being done at the time on finishing the cowlings and fillets.

C-97 is done. Ready to fly. We're just waiting on the FAA concerning crew relief. (No one's current in a C-97)

Barring any major MX issues, we ought to be out there a bit in 17.

Wouldn't one of the CAF B-29 crews work out for that?

I didn't say no one's rated in a C-97. No one is CURRENT.

It's not about being qualified. It's about currency. There is no one on the planet who is current. The last C-97 flight was in 2002 and it was the crew we're using. It SHOULD be just a formality, but you never know.
