Does anybody know a source for old FAA databases? What I'm looking for is a database from say 1975 that would show aircraft registered at that time. Often in the current database there a reassignments and removal of N-Numbers and in most cases the records only show last owner. I was wondering if there was a way to see old data.

Scott;
I use to use the FAA publications at the University of Connecticut's Library when I was in school. They were bound copies on the shelves.
They had all the records and if I can remember correctly, it may have been by N-Number and Type. You might try a large local university and look up Governement periodicals and records. I tracked several BT-13's down and actually spoke with the owner using the records, and that was 1979.
Good luk,
Jerry

Scott, I have a registration database from 1982 or 1983 on microfiche. Do you have a reader or access to one?

There was a company called Anacomp that made the microfisches for the FAA. Maybe they might have some old copies left, or what about the FAA?

Alas no. It's not a terribly big deal. I was just trying to see if there was a relatively easy way to update the registry with older information and especially to find aircraft that entered civil service but did not survive the 50's

Scott, I think a number of libraries may still have them. If you would like to borrow my set of microfiche you are more than welcome to. I’m traveling right now, but will be back next week.
