Hi All,

We’ve added a gallery of images of various aircraft on display in Fredericksburg, TX at the National Museum of the Pacific War.

Great photos! You may want to fix your link, it goes directly to one of your photos and not the album itself.

So wait a minute, do they have two crashed wrecks of Vals? I see one outside as well as inside.

Thanks for this, mostly because I'm not familiar with the museum. But now I am!
It is definitely on my list to visit!

Spectacular exhibits, esp the N1K1 and the unrestored aircraft. Well done!

The might be relics from the little known Japanese air assault on Nimitz's hometown. The Japanese sneaked the Akagi thru the Panama Canal to the Texas coastline in early '42, but US intelligence kept it underwraps so as not to concern the rest of the Homeland.

But, once you've seen one crashed Val, you've seen them all.... 8)

Thanks for letting me know! Link repaired.

The earlier photo is from before the museum finished enlarging the Bush Gallery building - at that point the Val wreckage was stored outside - and other items, like the wrecked M3 Stuart tank were also displayed outdoors. Now those items are safely ensconced indoors.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I figured if there were TWO Val wrecks, one of them should go to the Pacific Aviation Museum.

Is that the Rex that used to be at NAS Willow Grove?

Perhaps. Think it went from outside display at Willow Grove, then to Pensacola for restoration, then to Texas? Various websites still list Willow Grove, Pensacola and Texas but those might all refer to the same airframe at various stages of its post war life. Another at NASM but believe that is a different airframe.
