The latest Hurricane to take to the skies in the UK, P2902 G-ROBT, took to the air today for a 20 minute test flight.

That now brings our airworthy Hurricane population to NINE in the UK, with more to follow soon. :supz:

Hawker Restorations, responsible for the rebuild, posted these videos of the takeoff and landing from the first test flight:

Soon the aircraft will be transiting to Duxford, where it will be based with its owner. Another of the Hurricane projects at Hawker Restorations, V7497 (G-HRLI), is also now at Elmsett aerodrome (where the final assembly and test flying is carried out for the company). The company also has a Hurricane project under restoration as a two-seater, with tandem stock canopies (based on an original wartime field modification), with the identity of RCAF 323/L1886.

Some information about the history of this particular Hurricane can be read here: http://aerodynamicmedia.com/hawker-hurr ... the-skies/

As told, the aircraft saw action during the Battle of France, and the paint scheme the aircraft had then, and carries now, is as was typical/standard for RAF fighters at the time, to have the bottom of the wings painted in black and white, which was the method at the time of helping ground observers/gunners tell the difference between friend and foe.

Some more (and recent) photos of the aircraft can be seen here: http://rafinsuffolk.activeboard.com/t63 ... 02/?page=1

....And at least one 2-seater so we could go for rides! If you continue with the same design as the front canopy it even looks right as a silhouette. The fuse is wide enough to absorb the second body without disruption...unlike the Spitfire.

Nicely done folks. I like the unique paint scheme, you'll never miss the ID on this one as it flies over!

There will be another flying in Canada (hopefully) in a few years. Hurricane MkXII, C-GGAJ, is next in line to be completed at Vintage Wings of Canada.

It will be painted in the markings of Wilie McKnight
