In a commercial for Dodge Ram of late it shows a WW2 veteran being reunited with a Hellcat found in a boneyard of commercial aircraft. The veteran and his family rescue the Hellcat and lovingly restore it. For the commercial I'm sure they just dusted it off to represent a restored aircraft. Which Hellcat is this??

I was kind of surprised that they didn't use a Hellcat for commercials when the 6.2 Hellcat engine came out a few years ago (maybe they did but I didn't notice). I'm a Chrysler tech and being a warbird guy it kind of irked me that they used the Hellcat name.

Sorry they make people believe there are still many old WWII aircraft in the boneyard just waiting to be restored. Just dust them off and they are ready to fly. However, Nice tribute to the Vet to honor his service by restoring the plane.

Years ago in college, I worked at a hobby store about half of our business came from "train guys"...model railroaders.

I was talking to one such guy and he actually believed that there were still places like Kingman and Walnut Ridge filled with surplus WWII types, basically free for the asking.

I suppose they see photos of DM and get confused.
