I feel like if someone bought this example and really went through it (i.e. detail the interior / Back Cat Scheme) I bet the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum would be interested.

That's the aircraft at Moses Lake, WA.

I recently discussed its originality and condition on another PBY thread here.
In short, t was the last one produced, sold as a tanker but never converted.
I think it was kept as a reserve a.c. for the well known PBY operator in the area, the one that did the flying in Always. It's very original with lots of correct and rare interior fittings.
It hasn't flown in years but has been in storage in the central Washington desert.
When I inspected it a few years ago, the airframe looked sound but who knows how much work it would take to get flying. But as they say..."it's all there".

Wow - I wonder if this is the same Rick Peterson who does air show announcing - it sure sounds like him!

To someone with limited knowledge of the PBY, this sure looks like it would be a great one to get and finish the restoration - however, as I have been told it is the last 25% of a restoration that takes the most time and $$.

I wonder what the asking price is ?

Pretty amazing aircraft in the video. If you want original, it looks like the one to start with!

I too was a little curious about the asking price. If it has been for sale for a while, that might suggest the price is on the upper scale of value??

Or perhaps no one is in the market for a PBY?

I can't imagine many of the warbird operators are in the market for a "non-traditional" warbird...seems many would rather use their fuel and maintenance budgets on bombers & fighters.

Reminds me of the Gananoque Ghost in Ontario Canada!

I believe that wins the nomination for Most Interesting Thing I've Seen All Day. And I was at the Lone Star Flight Museum earlier. 8)

I was hoping the the Everett, Washington based Historic Flight Foundation would be interested in it, but I understand they've bought a PBY in France.

Does the FHC or Collings want one?
It's great to spend other people's money! :)

Thanks. To me....that seems a little on the high end for one that has been sitting around and needs some work. Is the value in the history? The San Juan Cat went for ~ $22,000 I think it was a few years back on EBay. It needed alot of work too but it was a Cat and a possible USCG one at that.

I hope he gets as much as possible. It is obviously a very cool time capsule, and yes probably the most original PBY out there.....but reality is in this market, i would think several '0's would need to be shaved off before it moves.
