F-14 Celebration on Long Island

Wed May 03, 2006 7:24 pm

A friend sent me this today:

F-14 Tomcat celebration and dinner planned in June.

Plans are underway on Long Island, N.Y. to celebrate the legacy of the F-14 Tomcat. The plane will be retired later this year by the U.S. Navy. At approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, two F-14s will fly over the Bethpage, N.Y. buildings and Grumman Memorial Park at the company's former facility in Calverton, N.Y. At 9:30 a.m., the planes will land at Long Island’s Republic Airport. A welcoming ceremony will take place at the American Airpower Museum <http://www.americanairpowermuseum.com/> , which is on the airport property. The planes will remain on public display all day for museum visitors. Additionally, on Friday, June 16, the planes will be on display from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. only for Northrop Grumman employees and their immediate families – there will be no admission charge to attend this event. The planes are scheduled to take off and head home at approximately 1:30 on Friday.

On the evening of June 15, the company and the Northrop Grumman Employee Network (NGEN) will co-host a F-14 celebration dinner at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, N.Y. Many of the F-14 pioneers will be speaking at the dinner. Employees and retirees are invited. Ticket prices are $25 for NGEN members (dues are only $2.50 per week) and $50 for non-members. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a seat call 516-704-3566, or send an e-mail to http://aewew.isa.northgrum.com/NGEN/default.htm. Be sure to leave your name, the number of tickets, address, and telephone number in order to be contacted about payment.
