Hi again,
The main external difference between the wings of the F2G and the standard Corsairs is the leading edge cooler openings and related buldges under the wings on the wing center section. The F2G had the coolers turned sideways, thus cutting down the size of the buldges. Bob Odegaard's F2G has the stock opening. Cook Cleland, Dick Becker and Ron Puckett experimented with closing up the openings to reduce drag. Ben McKillian (sp?) did nothing to modify his (ok, Cook's) F2G. The outer wing panels are for the most part interchangable except for various wiring differences for guns or cannon. I thought that Bob said the #57's outer wing panels are from different versions of Corsairs. The origional outer panels needede a lot of work on the leading edges and were owned by someone else.
