Inde motorsports ranch jet displays

Tue Nov 07, 2017 2:42 pm

Finally went down to see if I could get pix of these jets on display, the facility is near Wilcox, Az. It looks as though the jets will sit on concrete pads at some point
as they are by the wheels. An employee told me they have a vampire coming and an F-100 coming soon and with more in the works! I'm looking fwd to updating this thread when I get a chance! pop2

Really impressive collection - sad they are parked outdoors.

I know the F-86 was once owned by Junior Burchinal at one time but don't know if he flew it?
They told me the -111 came from Oregon and in one piece!!
Here's a link to explore

If the F-111 came from Oregon, was ur in the same collection as the F5D and other jets that were for sale a couple of years ago?

I'm curious what became of the F5D Skylancer.

The F-86L is indeed ex-Burchinall but he never flew it (though he told me that he had).

52-4239 was built as an F-86D-50 and delivered to 331st FIS on 13Aug54. It then went to:
5th FIS 18Aug55
NAA Fresno 19Feb57
converted to F-86L 02Jul57
3555th CCTW 12Jul57
donated VFW Post 20Sep60, Dennison TX
Wild Weasel Aviation, Grayson County Airport TX for restoration to flying condition (1998?)
registered as N5169W to IN Burchinall, Jr 31Oct02, who gave meaningless s/n as '2837'
to Randy W Ball/Fighterjets Inc., Dallas TX and moved by road Jun04 for restoration in Dallas. It was due to fly again late '06 but this never happened - a great shame.

I second that curiosity. We still have my Dad's Douglas Flight Test Division patch set into a F5D litho hanging in the office. His first aviation job after graduating from Northrop school.

Was this due to parts or systems being unavailable, or is there an FAA certification issue with the D/L model? Always wondered why none are flyable.

The F5D is now at Evergreen waiting for restoration.

The F-86L was on display at Fantasy of Flight for quite some time. I believe the story on why it never flew is due to a certain systems component needed for flight, that could not be obtained. Something specific to the D/L series if I recall, but I can't remember what the part was.

Electronic fuel system I was told: since they were troublesome in service I can understand why. Nowadays some clever person could replace the whole lot with something the size of a fingernail.

Anyone knows the history of the MiG-15UTI? I tried to google it and found a website claiming it had been trucked from FL., but nothing further.
