Coyotes on the Runway: Santa Fe, NM May 04

Fri May 05, 2006 4:05 am

According to what one of the pilots of one of the Texan IIs at Santa Fe told me today, for the first time in his life, he heard a warning for wild life such as this : )

The flight of two was coming from Vance AFB, OK and stopped to refuel in Santa Fe, to continue to Luke AFB, AZ.

The Skycrane is configured for forest fire-fighting, and has been active even today, as there is a fire in the Socorro, NM area.

Hmmm,

Shannon and I stopped for Ice Cream the other day and we brought it over to the industrial park behind the Ice Cream Stand to look at the local airport, Beverly MA (KBVY). After sitting there for about 10 minutes a Coyote came walking down the L/H side of runway 9 and Shannon grabbed the Binoculars and jumped out of the truck. It saw her looking and watched her for about 20 seconds before running across thr runway. It stopped on the other side and looked back again two or three times before heading way off behind the old GTE hangars. We see them there from time to time, they have seemed to have fenced them in along with the Deer.
