Nice shoots. Thanks for posting them and thanks to the Friend for passing them along. It will be nice to see a P-61 in a bright area and not stuck in a dark corner. I can’t wait to make a trip down to see that place. It looks great!

Anyone have any news on the recovered P-61s that were talked about a year or 2 ago? And what is the latest on the one in China that was rumored to have been sold?

Awesome photo's !

Has this one seen some semblance of restorative effort done on her or will she be displayed in an un-restored state ?

She has seen some restoration (new plexiglass, fully restored fabric control surfaces..). Mostly she has been cleaned, and had corrosion control. The goal is to get the aircraft at Silver Hill out to Udvar-Hazy as quickly as possible so that people can see them. The full restorations will only happen once the main restoration hanger has been built. I am sure that some of the smaller aircraft will undergo restoration at Garber during the meantime, such as the Curtiss CW-1 Junior, and the Goodyear Pilgrim currently finishing up comprehensive restorations at present. However, I am pretty certain from talking with my friends at Garber that all the big stuff will have to wait for a while. That being said, it is vital that they receive some TLC in the meantime, which is exactly what has been happening. Hope this clarifies things for you.

Cheers,
Richard
