You know, making up phrases is fun, but sooner or later some poor fool will wander in and think that batch of jibberish you wrote actually means something in english

More like "means something to the English", like any other cricket reference

Ahhh...a sigh of relief...an American realizing that WE are not to take sole
blame for the ruination of the English language.

Rather a stickey wicket..Wot?

There is a Lancaster at East Kirkby that can taxi

But it isn't going to fly. There's a lot of difference between a taxiing aircraft and a flying one - starting with the paper trail that'll make it possible, and having to rip the whole thing apart to put new metal in places like the spars.

It could happen, but it's not at all likely.

Cricket. Pakistan, Holland, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka and so forth don't think they're England.

Incidentally, the world's first international cricket match was between Canada and...

The USA.

This chap seems familiar, needs a bit of coaching though...

One outa two aint bad! 'batsman', although 'batter' is gaining currency. They probably wish they were Australia, although the English won the Ashes in the last clash after an 18 year drought; the forthcoming rematch of five games of five days each, all of which can end in a draw or a tie... ...will be a nail-biter. Any stat fiends of Baseball will be impressed with cricket's equal obsession with numerical trivia.

For the bemused familiar with Baseball or Cricket but not both, may I recommend: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_between_Cricket_and_Baseball

Right country, wrong game chappie. A batman was an English officers orderly.
Are they still referred to as batman in this day and age?

I guess my humor is a bit too obtuse for some of youse troops. I know what a "batman" is.
I'll try to be a bit more obvious in the future.

Mudge the entertainer :D
