He wasn't flying a typical landing pattern, as stated in the video, it was at the end of the balbo formation and they were spilting in echelon for the extended circuit to run and break to then enter the standard landing circuit, so from where is was out in the 'outer' circuit, I can't see how could have got the airfield sooner, especially with the limitations of the field at Duxford, with the high ground running parallel to the runway along Grange Rd, and risking overflying Duxford village and as stated the proximity of the M11 'freeway' which with the Shoreham Hunter crash in every pilots mind, I think he did a bloody fine job of getting it down at all and walking away.

Excellent job dealing with a dynamic situation. To his credit he discusses what he did, some of the errors made and what he would have done differently. I was looking for the written (?) interview that was mentioned toward the end of the video where he goes into the details of the mishap. Does anyone have a link to that? I'm wondering if he felt he could have made the runway if he had not lowered the wheels when he did?

If you look for and listen to the full interview it sounds like he started the gear down and then made a decision to pull them back up.

Glad everyone is ok that is some amazing footage. Did the gear make it all the way back up before he bellied in? That sink rate at the end was impressive.

Based on a series of still photos I saw, don't think the gear was completely up

I’m going to review it again before making additional comments. On the west coast in the Falcon 2000 for a few days.
