This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hello,
I stayed out of the previous thread because I was afraid of where it
was headed. Let's not let this one degenerate into more of the same.
There is no need to get into a chest thumping contest about who got
the ball rolling before. Buddy Macon is the guy who first had the idea.
I know this because I was sitting in his office discussing the WIX board,
warbirders opinions, etc. at the time. I may have been the first one to
post here about it, but it was at his behest. Buddy is the man who first
said NMNA had more in common with the warbird community that they
had differences. Buddy is the one who wanted to gently work together
with others to change NHC's recovery policies. Buddy is the guy who
issued the invitation and took out the adds in the enthuiast press.
Buddy is the guy who extended the olive branch and was going to host the meeting.
You will never meet a guy more dedicated to preserving history and
honoring the men who made it.
Rob did indeed call Buddy, but it was after I gave him the number,
extention, and told him Buddy would take the call.
We need to focus on working together to get the planes recovered,
restored, and on display where future generations can see them.
I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes, "There is no limit to what
we can accomplish if we don't worry about who gets the credit".
Blue skies & Best regards,
Owen Miller

I don't know Buddy Macon. I've never met him or talked to him, but from what little you have written he sounds like he could be the right person for the job.

Here's an old article where Mr. Macon was involved in a recovery case of a TBD-1.

Scott,
The jury recommends:
a) a stern rap on the knuckles for Mr. Miller,
b) shooting the stoolie,
c) locking up Mr. Patterson and Mr. Rohr in adjacent coolers.
As for me: Do with me what you will. I only regret that I have but one life to... oh heck, just shoot me, too.
