I have a C-47 nose available on the U.S Eastern Seaboard which requires restoration along with another for spares if anyone fancies a cockpit project!

Purely to keep my database up to date: would you know the serial of this C-47? And where it is now?
Thks

Price range and location are by PM to me .The identity of one is 42-100662 from memory formerly with Basler as a spares ship.

This sounds like Kevin Smith's C-47 cockpit project. I helped him cut off the nose for one of these aircraft from the spare Valiant Air Command C-47 back in 2004. We trucked it back to his home in Virginia. He was going to mate this cockpit (which was missing some of the lower skin and formers) with a more complete cockpit which had a little damage on the superstructure. These were for sale a short while ago. It would make an excellent project, and was to come with a lot of spare parts and instruments.
Cheers,
Richard

It's not the same project. My two were acquired in 2003 from Basler and Opa Locka respectively. I saw the VAC machine shortly before her nose was cut of - she was a nice machine.

Interesting that there are two such projects out there! That VAC spare machine was rife with corrosion in the wing box area. The outer wing panels were more or less ok, but will need re-skinning in places. VAC got the machine to use these panels for Tico Belle. Seemed a shame at the time, but they were going to scrap the spare once they'd picked what they wanted from her. We managed to at least get the nose before they did so. I must admit to having very mixed feelings about it though. How come you're selling your project? Was it too expensive to ship home?
Cheers,
Richard

Can be done - just requires a deal of work and I have aircraft work to do in Virginia. If it does't fit in an ISO it suddenly becomes a good reason to extract large amounts of extra cash!

I see... it's amazing how much blood some people try to extract when they feel they can. Too bad.
Incidentally, I live in northern virginia. PM me when you are over, as I'd be happy to show you around if you need it.
All the best,
R.

There's a lot of aviation related stuff in the DC area, as you well know. Give me a bell if you get the chance.
Cheers, R.
