Was at the Museum in Charlotte NC in Jan, I had asked about the Carolina Girl and when I remember it sitting in Upstate NY. I was saddened to hear that the owner of the museum had died of Cancer. Had not seen the new pics of the inside...............she has come a long way since 98..............hell of a job Rob getting that paint off!!!!!!lol

It's interesting you bring that up, seriously. I tried getting my brain around that idea a few years ago when Fuddy Duddy was for sale the first time and wondered if a grouping of small museums would go into a fractional plan to allow a plane to create a draw at several museums and allow them to take advantage of the revenue stream from a flight experience program to defray the fixed costs and reduce the annual fixed costs for each museum based on the percentage of revenue they were responsible for... something of an incentive for selling rides.

Of course with the ownership also comes the tax benefit as well.

An interesting prospect... if this draws more discussion or perks interest, let's post a new topic to discuss and get everyones input.

Ryan: With the cost to purchase and maintain warbirds ever climbing, I think that is a way to spread the costs and make ownership more of a reality. However, with that said, there are obvious issues such as insurance and operation access that would need to be carefully thought out.

OK, how about a group buy by members of this board for fractional ownership.

This has been done with everything from PT-19s to P-51s, and some have been scams. Usually it doesn't work out when one owner blames another for using up the tires too fast or some other nonsense. My one partnership experience didn't even last through the first annual (and the airplane was out of annual when we bought it). Might work if you have the right personalities, but it often doesn't.
