Looks superb. That engine sure sounds nice. Just a reminder, rumour is that the Soplata collection still has the remains of a P-63A fuselage and a set of wings. Of course one wing is for a P-39 and the other a P-63. The fuselage is straight and usable but it has been stripped down. Maybe these can go to a good home someday.

Jerry Yagen also has a P-400 project in storage and a static P-63.

Also, it's rather curious how this P-39 restoration/airframe is registered as P-39F 41-7215, but is painted with the serial number of P-39Q 42-20341.

A post on the ID question from photographer Gavin Conroy made at Wings Over New Zealand:

The tail number the aeroplane wears is not that of the actual machine.
At the time it was painted it was thought to have been a Q model that served in Russia but Jerry just wanted it wearing a standard American paint job so that tail number was picked with no real significance.
Now that all of the actual history of the aeroplane has been mapped out with a data plate to confirm it is indeed an F model but is not the same tail number and at this stage it will not be changed.

Hope that makes sense, the actual serial number is 41-7215.

An interesting thing: the word "aeroplane" shows up as a misspelled word in my browser. I must be on an American website
