Well that's the last of my grandfathers pictures. Looking at them and sharing them with you here, has in some way, let me reconnect with my grandfather.

I hope you've enjoyed them.

Thanks for looking.

Hi,
By way of introduction, I am an amateur researcher in Tokyo, writing a blog.
Japan's National Diet Library has this report open on their web. http://dl.ndl.go.jp/info:ndljp/pid/4004655

Found that the daughter of LTJG WEAR is mentioned here; are you still in touch with her?
The reason why I am asking is, I had a chance to e-mail with the son of LTJG COUMBE.
He is asking me nothing, but I just want to see how far I can go.

Regards,
M. Tanaka

Tanaka San,

Yes, I'm still in contact with Wear's daughter. She & her daughter came out in 1998, when we were searching for Wear's plane in Mutsu Bay. I was never able to get in touch with any of Coumbe's relative, so I would be interested in getting in contact with you.

I have a website on WWII Naval Aviation & have a couple of photos of Wear on the site.

I'll PM you tomorrow after I get back from work.

Sincerely,

Mac

Curtis,

I know I'm VERY late to this thread, but I'm working on a book about CVG-83 and Essex, and would love to see if I could talk to you about your collection.

My uncle (Richard A. Roiz) was a radar operator on Essex from late 1943 thru early 1946. I have some things I can share with you as well.

Here's his second place (to the Marines) basketball team on right as CVG-4 was leaving and CVG-83 was going on board in mid-March 1945.

Thank you for your consideration!
