An acquaintance is restoring...or doing heavy maintence...on one in the UK.
It's all-out effort to get it ready for the mass C-47 flights to commemorate D-Day.

There was an advertising in Trade a Plane late last year (or early this year) for a part completed project in Texas (I think).
From memory the aircraft had strong D Day+1 history and had more recently been stored at Meacham Field along with another C47 which had been badly damaged in a hurricane. I didn't make a note of the identity, does anybody know the aircraft and what the current status is?

Does anybody know who bought the 3 derelict air frames at Vichy Missouri? They were advertised for sale for ~$125K for the lot, a couple months ago and website was updated to "sold", I'm curious to see what will become of them?

Thought for sure the knowledge would have been on this site?

About 10 years ago, someone announced an ambitious project to prepare a C-47/DC-3 with CG-4 glider for the D-Day remembrance. They had an aggressive...meaning highly improbable scheduled window they were shooting for IIRC. Does anyone remember that project? The website disappeared about a year later. Whatever happened to that aircraft(s)?

aww, I remember the Firestone DC-3, I have a instamatic photo of it flying over Kings Island. I kinda recognized it, wasn't surprised at all to read Lu Lu Belle is the one. The red stripes and the white cowlings really jogged the memory. Also a fleet of Super Stearmans would do an act every evening. It was very Red Baron-y but I think pre-dated them. Mid '70's memories being flogged here.

Now rescheduled, with the hope to make Arnhem in September.

John: That would be "Night Fright" - already on this list.

What about "Hit or Miss"?
