A short film called "24 Hour Alert"

Sun Apr 28, 2019 2:13 pm

Yesterday after 2001 Space Odyssey, TCM showed a short film made in 1955 called "24 Hour Alert" narrated by Jack Webb. Lots of flying action by F-86's, F-100, T-33, C-130, B-47, B-52, B-5 and a B-25. It was an interesting short film. Anyone else see it??

Yup Pat, it's been discussed a few times. Turner runs it occasionally. Last time I saw it was about 2 or 3 years ago. Sonic booms and air base sounds, sound of freedom. Lot of neat period stuff in there.

The B-25 is a survivor: 43-28204, now flying as Pacific Princess.

(Another tidbit you can add to its history, Scott!)

This mystery (civilian?) Mitchell was used for the closeups; note the odd yellow and black stripe:

Yes, I saw it a couple of years back.
Great color shots.
In a few years the 50s will really be history! :)

The close up shot is intrigueing, I wonder which B-25 that was. Somehow the yellow/black stripe and white rings a bell, but I cannot place it.
