B-17G Sentimental Journey in Colorado

Wed May 22, 2019 10:01 pm

B-17G Sentimental Journey is visiting the Denver area this week, and the guys from Arizona were probably not digging the snowstorm we got yesterday!

Given the snow, I figured a few B&W images would go well with the frigid temperatures.

Good to see her again.
When I was in Mesa in January, I visited the CAF hangar and she was undergoing some pretty deep maintenance.
I'm not sure the average person appreciates the work a tour involves.

In speaking with crew yesterday, she unfortunately had to scrub her last flight due to problems with the port inner engine turbo. They estimated she'd be grounded "probably a few days." Hoping it's not serious! She sure looks resplendent all polished up.

Went by the airport this morning, and she is indeed still there, all covered up and situated by the terminal. No flights, and no tours were being done. No activity around her at all. My understanding is she was supposed to fly out yesterday for their next stop.

According to their website, she isn't scheduled to be in Herbert, Utah until June 3rd, so they still have some time.
