Why do some of the Buchon's have swastikas on the tails and some don't? Are the swastika-less ones registered in Germany or destined for German customers?

I've never seen a polished Spitfire. Polish yes, polished, no.
Must drive some of the purists crazy... "Looks like a bloody Mustang" they must be thinking...if not saying.

When the RAF deleted camouflage post war, they painted their aircraft silver...like the late Spitfire seen below.

If you are flying around the world best not to do it in a fighter in military livery.

I think some R.F.C. officer promised a lovely lunch to the lady in front of the De Havilland DH-9 and kept her waiting. That's a NO, NO

More info on the decisions by IWC to "polish" their Spitfire.
IWC's website about the tour -

https://www.silverspitfire.com/about/spitfire-history/http://warbirdsnews.com/warbird-restora ... light.htmlAlso, I don't remember where, but I'm pretty sure that Supermarine had a Spitfire on its company retainer that was either a very highly reflective silver or polished back during the post-war 1940s and 1950s and used for internal testing. They did it that way so it wasn't mistaken for a line aircraft, much as they did prototypes in Yellow.
