Wow, Pearl Harbor, Part 2. This trailer is a truly awful start and I'm not optimistic at all.

Wow

More green Zeros, more unrealistic portrayal of PH. At least Aaron Eckhart does resemble Commander Waldron a bit. Props to Nick Jonas who can stretch from fighting Germans at Dunkirk to the Japanese at Midway.

Maybe he'll defend Pearl Harbor from the Germans as well.

Well, that was actually Harry Styles in Dunkirk, Nick has yet to have the privilege of killin' Nadzees!

He's in there, played by actor Brandon Sklenar.

As an aside, I read a post on a WW2 Jeep forum from the guy who made the hats for the lead actors, and he said that Harrelson was such an animal rights guy, that the hats he made for the actor couldn't have leather bills. He had to use a different material for the hat in that photo...

I'm sure that the wardrobe department was happy to save a few bucks by using vinyl.

Maybe, but the guy making them is a craftsman, so that posed a challenge to making them look right, I'd bet: https://forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?f ... p=1750396&

The last image is of a whole bunch of Dauntlesses diving on a Japanese carrier at the same time. This will be "based" on an historical event, at best.

Who will play Dick Best?

I wonder if they will accurately describe the McCluskey/Best mix-up in their attack

Not likely, in my opinion. The question in my mind is whether they will give Best a speaking part at all.

Best is the true hero of Midway; the man who made the command decision to not proceed with the current bombing in progress and hunt for other game - and bag it. He is the pilot on the scene who brought Victory to the US. Without that decision, there would have been two Japanese carriers - and a commander on his flagship - to attack the three American carriers. The result would likely have been much more damage to the American carriers and perhaps a good chance that the Japanese would lose only the Kaga and Soryu.

That would be something of a tactical tie rather than a strategic defeat for the Japanese. They may even have gone ahead and stormed the Midway beaches, though it is less likely that they would have been able physically occupy the Islands.
