Thought this would be fun to see some of WIX members preferences.

I think I would go with P-51D Little Rebel. P-51's just seem like the easiest choice for fighters, especially the ability to take someone with you. Little Rebel has always stood out to me as one of the top 5 restorations, up there with the likes of Lopes Hope, Sierra Sue II, and Upupa Epops.

The Firefly would also be a great choice. Has that wow factor at any airshow you bring it to!

Dunno what's "on the market" right at the moment, but if I ever came into enough money to support ONE warbird, I'd look for an AD-5/A-1E. Take the whole family and all their friends and all everybody's stuff with you everywhere you go!

I've always wanted to see a Noorduyn Norseman in military markings, so I would buy the Norseman from Courtesy and restore it to 100 percent stock military condition.

If I had millions to throw around, I think I'd rather spread that amount around to a couple different organizations that need it rather than buy anything for myself.

Beats me why, but I saw them still flying for the USAF when I was a teen in the time I still saw them being used by some USAF units.
They're relatively roomy as I got to spend a day in one while filming a movie for art school in one and I understand they're not tough to work on.
Unrealistically, if I had the money for this and I could get the people to work on it?

I'd have to re-paint it into a USAF bird. As a former Army officer, no way would I be associated with a Navy anything (for example, my 1944 Willys MB WW2 Jeep was used by the Navy but it's painted in Army markings, of course)...

No question about it, the ex-Sidney Cotton Lockheed 12 Electra Jr. for sale at Platinum. THE founding aircraft of modern aerial reconnaissance... it having been flown on secret missions over Germany and the Middle East before September 1939. I'm astonished that this plane has survived, and that no museum has grabbed it yet.
Look through the listing and there's a link to an article explaining the aircraft and Cotton's exploits with it... I'd known the bare bones of the story (from the book "Air Spy") but the detail there explains just how historically significant this plane is.
Plus, if properly restored you could actually use it to go places in... and bring the family and the dog!
(Not to mention that IMHO, the Lockheed 12 is the most beautiful twin-engine airplane ever built.)
