When I visited Harry Whereatt at his farm on Sept. 15, 2005, he said that awhile back he was restoring two Lysanders side by side, one for his wife and the other for himself, but he sold his. He said his wife Anna is very possessive of her Lizzie so it might stay in the family for quite awhile. It's registered as C-FVZZ to Anna Whereatt on the Transport Canada site.

Thanks for posting. Too many neat toys in the world, too little free 100LL and annuals...

But it makes me want to draw WASH ME on the caked-on dust with my fingertip. Or better yet, FLY ME.

Like I mentioned in the Michael Potter thread.

If Michael Potter recently purchased Mr. Whereatt's Hurri.

......Well is the Lizzy up for grabs also ?

Just curious 8)

Michel,
I don't know. But Harry told me that Anna wanted it made clear to everyone that came to visit that the Lysander is her airplane. The Hurri was Harry's baby but it sounded like anyone that was interested in the Lysander would be dealing directly with Mrs. Anna Whereatt!

Hi All,

this may be a bit off topic, but how many Lysanders exist and are in or a situation to be restored ?

This aircraft looks very good ! It would be an excellent aircrft to photograph when the time arrives and it is back in the air again.

The Lysander really is a forgotten warbird and pretty rare as either a flyer or a restoration project...but then again it is a very complex airplane and Bristol engines aren't quite dime a dozen.

Close to airworthy:

Whereatt
CWH
Weeks in FLA ?

Under Restoration:

ARCo in England
SABENA in Belgium
Tallichet/Bristol Heritage ?

Vince O'Conner had one under restoration as well a few years back, but I'm not sure what the current status of that project is. Outside of that, I'm not sure how many hulks are floating around. I believe the second CWH bird is now with Eric Vormezeele. SABENA is restoring two Lysanders, but I understand the second is a static restoration.

And then there is the U.S. mystery Lysander. N612VH is registered as a Lysander in Idaho. Anyone know more about this project?
