I don't see anything in that mailing that specifically says the B-17 will be flying next year, just "in the future." The wording does sound encouraging for a Wings of Freedom tour next year though and it's nice to see some of the other aircraft being booked for airshows already. Sounds like things are looking up at the very least.

Without a b-17 touring I think it would be that much more pressure on everything. Just going on tour with the b-24,25,51 and 40 is great but if that b-24 breaks,( and these planes do at times,) that means your stuck on the tour with no heavy bomber for those rides. With the 17 and 24 it gives everybody much more flexibility if one plane needs maintenance on the road.

I am really holding out hope that the other b-17g is ready to go but if it’s not I hope a leased b-17 for a few months would be the next best thing. But then again let’s say b-17 Memphis belle steps in to help out and needs a new engine etc, does the Collings foundation have to pay for that maintenance?

I had a conversation with the Collings folks today as this was the day one could make a monetary donation, and whatever you donated it would be worth double which I did. So I asked if the tour was going to continue in 2020. Short answer is yes starting in January 2020 I would assume starting in Florida as they have in the past. Yes as you know $800K to get the B-17 ready to go. I also asked about that aircraft as well. Answer Collings is gunning for 2021 so keep your fingers crossed.
A terrible incident that took place with 909 and the trajic loss of life. I have in my den a picture of MAC and myself taken in 2018 at Akron OH which means a lot to me. I have been a member of Collings since 2011, and have worked myself over a period of time to Plane Sponsor. I absolutely believe in the Collings foundation and there cause which is living history. They are I feel with no disrespect to the other Warbird organizations the worlds foremost can do organization. When the Collings folks are in your area go out and support them. Less than $20.00 you can tour the inside of an airplane. Keepem flyin

How can you not tour without a b-17? That’s cutting your profit in half. I’m guessing the skyraider would stay on the tour

I'm looking forward to seeing the Lighting and Hellcat at WWII Weekend. Two types I've never seen at that show before.

First off before we all start talking about the bomber tour, let's all wait for the NTSB report and the dust walls, we still don't know what the FAA is going to do after the report is published and we all know that there will be lawsuits coming out this accident and if Collings is found guilty of anything then we all can kiss the ride programs goodbye and could destroy the Collings Foundation financially.

The FAA has already approved the 6802 ( the ride exemption) for other organizations. The "show" will continue.....For how long, who knows.
