AD-4B NAS Grosse Isle, MI 1962. I'm guessing this was a taxiing mishap with the wings still folded. Pilot perhaps hit the breaks too hard and nosed over?

No info on when and where, but looks obvious it was a belly landing on soil and not pavement.

Corsair collision that occurring at NAS Agana Guam on May 20, 1949. One obviously fared much worse than the other.

Republic P-47D-28-RA Thunderbolt 62nd FS [LM-N], 56th FG, 8th AF, Boxted, Station 150; Crashed 28 Dec 1944 on take-off at Boxted. Pilot survived, but aircraft was destroyed.

Crashed on my birthday, 25 year before I was born!

Its interesting that even at that late date, 3-4 months after the invasion stripes were ordered removed, they were still on this plane and seemingly well maintained. Not overly significant but interesting.
