Bill & Tim,

I think 11:00 am at Brian's is the best bet. It will be pretty crowded outside the officers club by then. By 11:00, the crowds are too large for good static shots anyway. If its sunny, that should allow enough time to get to the "secret" photo stand on the opposite side of the field before the flying starts.

By the way, I plan to be there all three days unless it rains.

I'd vote for Sat. & Sun. at Brian's area. Some of us won't be there both days so that'll give everyone a chance to meet.

Catherine and I will be showing up sometime on Friday, and staying for the full show on Saturday before heading home. We will make a point of finding Brian's tent.

Hey,

Shannon and I will be driving down on Friday morning. We still have not picked a spot for camping so far as there are many choices in the area.
Last year I did a priceline bid for the Sheraton in reading and it was accepted at $60 a night but we didnt get to camp at all last year so I figure we will kill two birds with one stone. (Maybe 3 if the tent gets washed in the rain)
Two years ago we went to Kutztown for a campsite and the year before we were south of the airport and did one night at the Adamstown Inn B&B. That year there was also a big VW show at Maple Grove, but this year its once again the weekend after.

Is anyone else camping offsite this year?

We will be driving back up on Monday and probably hitting a few stops on the way back northeast. (I have to find something animal related to make the trip include something for her) Hawk Mountain spiked her interest this evening.

A few other things that you guys might be interested in.

The Kutztown Airport has an incredible diner on the side of the runway. Located just north of Reading, the breakfast we had gotten there was inexpensive and fantastic.
Also
The Antique Aeroplane Rest. in Reading was a neat spot to stumble across last time we were there. Dining under a monocoupe was cool. The dining room was not much larger than the wingspan of the Coupe!

Tell me more of the secret Photo spot on the other side!
Shannon and I have watched the show from the lawn of the first parking lot on the hill several times and really enjoy the company of a few regulars we have run into on several trips. Depending on which way the traffic is going most of the airplanes are turning right over that spot. We Like It!

Krlang,

Sounds like you already know my not very "secret" photo spot. The remote parking lots on the opposite side of the field offer better afternoon lighting if the sun is out and the planes are taking off to the south (I think that is the direction).

Hey guys,
ok, if you are standing at the MAAM main hanger looking out towards the runways with the hanger at your back, our set up is up and to the left. i am going up tonight to work on our area and again on thursday evening, so i will give report thursday evening to finalize things, tell about the set up and let you guys know what's already in.
our site should be easy enough to find, just look for our watch tower with the .30 cal mg and lots of bamboo!

Diamond Lil and Yankee Lady are there. MAAM's TBM is parked outside wings folded. Still looks like a lot to be done in two days. I'll post later thursday nite after I get back from setting up.

Camping...surely you jest
My idea of "roughing it" is a motel without a TV remote.

Accuweather is a little more optimistic but overall the picture does not look good. Tomorrow it is supposed to really pour, and I don't see how the Lanc and Russell birds are going to get there if the squall line runs straight from Hamilton/Niagara down to Reading, which is how it looks.

The front is slower moving than expected and it seems likely to slop over into Saturday. :( Either way, there'll be plenty of mud.

Everyone agrees that Sunday will be okay, but that's no help if the airplanes aren't there.

I'd be sad to have to abort this one; it could have been an exceptional show for MAAM. But if I don't hear really good news by Saturday p.m. about things clearing up and the Canadian planes being on the field, I'm throwing in the towel and going to the car show in Connecticut instead.

Just got back from set up.....as of 9 pm there was no rain....don't know if that changed or not, but i ran into some bad weather on the way back home. Everyone's been hearing mixed reports, but i think everyone is expecting a 'back to normal' reading washout......keep those fingers crossed....i got to sleep in this stuff!!

they pulled in the C-47 and put it next to our camp. If you are staring at the c-47, we are directly to the right of it. nothing else new there yet, except the Val dive bomber, few t-6's. Yankee lady went up for a flight. They have the P-61 in the back right corner of the museum...looks great.

Hopefully i'll see some of you guys there...just don't bring any of the R word with ya!!

Any update on WW2 weekend as far as planes on the field? I'm on LI and its forcast IFR with TRW's all day. Tomorrow may be a little clearing but not much.

Will the Russel group and Lanc bother making the trip for a few hours on Sunday IF the weather clears?

At this point I'm thinking I might cxl and save my $$ for a trip to Gennie :?

OK, I actually was able to get someone on the phone over at MAAM, and they advised that the LANC is there as of Friday at 2:30 pm. The ME-109 did not make it, and they wern't sure about the Spit/Hurri. I have a feeling that the Russel Group may not have made the trip.

The person I spoke to couldn't tell me about any of the other fighters on the roster.

I'm kinda divided about going b/c of the weather tomorrow. With the LANC sched for Gennie, and the chance to see some of the Potter aircraft there, I might wait and pray for good weather in July.

Anybody on site with more info?
