First was a T-6 in about 1978. We were at an airshow and Dad gave me $50 bucks for a ride. When I came back he said "Where's my change?". I just smiled.
First stick time in warbird then O2-A, also my first WB check out!

Chalk up another for the SNJ--back when I was a teenager--by someone who recognized a kid that had been bitten badly by the bug.
Later on (and not necessarily in a correct order)...
P-51 (with the late Dick James)
Stearman
Ju-52 (Remember the Lufthansa trip to OSH in the 90's?)

If we count military a/c then........
P-3As (old very old!), P-3Cs (brand new much better!), C-2 Greyhound (3 traps and 2 launches off the Nimitz. NO LIKEY!!!), CH-46, CH-53, C-9, C-130 and OR NG Sherpa.

My first and only to date, 1975 Palomar Airport. Watching CAF playing around and met this young kid in the Mustang. He worked at Chino in exchange for flying lessons in the warbirds, I worked for Parnelli Jones' Indy team and we hit it off. I asked, he said yes but it cost me....$35 for gas! One glorious hour out over the Pacific with a B-25, two other Mustangs, Bearcat and a couple T-6's as I recall.

My first ride was in the Alamo Wing PT-26, then while crewing the B-25 Yellow Rose, #1 & #2 L-19's, H/C Wing Fi-156D then on to several P-51's and the best was a ride with Lefty in White Lighting & in the nose of Texas Radiers with Tex Hill. Next would be a Corsair and a Spit....

Steve atleast you had an escort with you, at Airsho 2004 the FM-2 Martlett of the CAF was taxing behind the SBD but never took off, I was hoping he would have, I would have been in heaven with that formation!

First Warbird ride was in our Wings L5 Stinson. Second ride was in a P51D with my now good friend and somewhat mentor, Reg Urshler and "Gunfighter." I wrote down the entire story of the ride from begining to end if anyone is interested. Go to our Wing website and look under Archives. Story and pictures.

Oddly enough Jeff, my first airplane ride of any kind was in the same TBM when I was eleven or so. My last warbird ride was a C-17 about three days ago.
